“Female Fertility” – Tanzania

A typical body mask, symbolizing fertility. The large, protruding navel is surrounded by three large circles and draws the viewer’s eyes. Two carved, striped lines stretch upward from the navel. The breasts and nipples are carved with great precision, and above them the decorative stripes continue up to the edge of the mask.
